When Los Angeles lawyer Addison receives a desperate voice mail from her adventure-seeking brother, Elliot, she hires Alaskan helicopter pilot Gideon (whom she first discovers via an ad in the Odds Are Good) to take her to her brother’s last known location. As the two uncover more and more details about Elliot’s last days, they find themselves falling deeply for each other.

Another wonderfully written story by Katy Regnery that brings a full range of emotions, from heartache to happiness to love, and has me totally hooked on this “Odds Are Good” series.

This book was written with the same emotion and heart as the other books in this series, but unlike the others, some of which also tackled some difficult topics, this one struck me on an even more emotional level. My heart was so sad watching Addison struggle with finding her brother and then watching her life unravel as she dealt with the consequences of everything she had face - and doing most of it alone. I loved how she pulled herself together and committed to finding her way, even though I did get a bit frustrated as she kept putting up a wall between her and Gideon. Gideon was wonderful. He was not a perfect hero, and I loved him even more for that. I loved that he was driven by emotion, but he was also man enough to own up to the issues that those emotions sometimes caused. I love the respect for Addison he had, his acceptance of her needs, how he was never threatened by her accomplishments, and his understanding of her desire to continue with her career. These two had a rocky road, but they fought hard and earned their happy ever after.
The relief I feel in his support, in his camaraderie, in his kindness, is so vast and so strong, I can feel my heart filling up with something wonderful. I don’t know much about love, and anyway, we haven’t known one another long enough to fall in love…but whatever it is, it feels so good, I never want to know how it feels not to have it filling my heart.

“Thank you,” I say when I can finally speak again. “You have no idea what that means to me. It’s not easy for me to…depend on someone else.”

“Well, get used to it,”he says.
I can’t say enough about this book and the entire series. Somehow Katy Regnery finds a way to deliver an emotional story that is easy to read, with characters who draw you into their story and have you turning the pages to find out how they will get their happily ever after.

I received an advance reader copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
