I wish when I was starting out that I allowed myself to enjoy the process more, instead of worrying so much about getting published. Of course getting published is the goal, and there’s nothing better than seeing and hearing how readers interact with your story. And yet…the creative process behind writing is the same whether you’re published or not. And I think for most writers—and definitely for me—the most joyful part is in the creating.
In Compound Eleven, freedom from tyranny is impossible.
