Review - Cowboy Rising by Mia Hopkins

Cowboy Rising
by Mia Hopkins
Series: Cowboy Cocktail, #5
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: November 22, 2016

Journalist Georgia Meyers is writing an article about MacKinnon Ranch in a last-ditch effort to save her job at a failing newspaper. At first, the hot-as-hell rancher wants nothing to do with her. But butting heads leads to knocking boots, and soon she’s getting the real story—in bed and off the record.

Cattleman’s son and petroleum engineer Daniel MacKinnon turned down a lucrative oil career to take over the family farm. Frustrated about giving up his dreams and worried about money, Daniel buries himself in ranch work—that is, until gorgeous Georgia shows up and rocks him to the core. A blazing one-night stand leads to something deeper. Despite their feelings for each other, he’s tied to the land and she’s a rolling stone. When the time comes to part ways, will the lovers choose duty over desire? Or will they face their fears and rise to the challenge of love?

Warning: Get ready for sassy banter, sizzling sex, orgasms galore, and a nerdy dirty-talkin’ cowboy who can go all night long.

Like every other book in this series, Mia Hopkins delivers a sexy read that also brings lots of emotion and heart.

Having met Georgia and Daniel in the previous books, I really enjoyed getting to know these two and learn the back-story to their relationship. I loved Georgia – she was a very strong woman who doesn’t take any crap from anyone, but I also loved that underneath that tough exterior was a woman who was caring, thoughtful, and accepting. Daniel started off a bit tough – he’s got a lot of anger inside because of his current circumstances, but as he begins to bare himself to Georgia it’s easy to see what a loyal and loving man he is underneath all that anger. These two certainly had no problems with the sexy times – whether things were sweet or a bit rough, these two had some serious sizzle and sparks. But when it comes to the emotional side of things, they both are a bit mired down in their current circumstances, which makes it a bit tough to for them both to see a future together. This does lead to a fabulous ending…let me just say that watching these two get their happy ever after definitely will bring a smile to your face – Daniel is just perfect!

This is the fifth book in the series but takes place earlier than the other books, which for me really worked. It can be read as a stand-alone, but when you have a bunch of sexy, dirty-talking cowboys like you do in this series, do yourself a favor and read them all!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
