Loud Mouth
by Avery Flynn
Series: Ice Knights, #3
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: June 22 2020
I never meant to say a word, not one single word.
But I did.
Now because of something I leaked—without even realizing it—I've inadvertently broken up one of the Ice Knights’ most legendary bromances. And worse—I've kicked hockey star Ian Petrov's grumpy level to insane levels of grump.
And what could make it worse? How about the two of us being trapped together in a remote cabin after a massive blizzard. Neither of us can leave. Just us, the snow, his resentment, and OMG sexual tension so thick it would take a snowplow to break through it.
I’ve got to get out of here before I do something even dumber than I’ve already done and kiss the sexy with his misplaced anger and perfect pecs. That would be the worst, the absolute worst. But… would it be terrible if we gave in? Just a little? It’s not like we’re ever going to have to spend time together again.
Until the next morning when we’re told we have to play chummy for the press until this news cycle blows over. F.M.L.
Another fun romantic comedy from Avery Flynn! This enemies-to-lovers story has humor, heart, and heat, all layered with Avery Flynn’s trademark snark and sass that I have come to love.
I just loved the set-up of this book - forced proximity is so much fun, and knowing that Ian blames Shelby for his current situation the tension between these two, as well as the attraction, just makes for some fun dialogue and steamy times. There was no lack of spark and heat between these two, but between the fraternizing policy that is a convenient excuse for Shelby to shield her heart, and Ian’s inability to see past his father’s shadow, these two just can’t seem to get out of their own way and listen to their hearts. I’m not a huge fan of too much angst, so it did get a bit frustrating watching these two deny what they wanted (each other), but with how things turned out I think it worked for me to make the resolution a bit sweeter.
“Are you always this surly when you’re helping people?” Shelby asked, trailing behind him, all darkness except for the ridiculous comforter and her voice that sounded like she’d just taken a hit of helium.
“Yes.”
“They you could at least have the decency to not look all Witcher hot while you do it.”
That stopped him cold and he turned around, glowering. “What is Witcher hot?”
The beginning of an amused smile tilted the corner of her mouth upward. “Do you grunt?”
Okay, he wasn’t sure where this was going, but he didn’t like it. “Occasionally.”
She shot him an oh-really look. “In the past twenty-four hours, you’ve grunted so much that I can tell the difference between their meanings. Plus, you just did it, like, five seconds ago.”
This is the third book in this series but can easily be read as a stand-alone - but beware, you will probably end up wanting to read all of the books! One of my favorite parts of reading a series (including cross-over series) is that you get to revisit with old characters and learn more about those who will most likely be featured in upcoming stories. I loved seeing Lucy with her baby and the few glimpses of some of the other characters, and I really loved finding out more about Alex, who I hope is who the next book is about!
I am a huge fan of Avery Flynn’s writing style - her dialogue and prose just flow on the pages and make her books an easy read. I love her sense of humor and her ability to create strong characters, and I love that her heroines can all stand on their own, despite their own perceived flaws and weaknesses.
I would definitely recommend adding this to your TBR!
Start the Series
USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip. Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are great with a quip and relatable heroines who are feisty, fierce and fantastic.
