His eyes flashed with unmistakable carnal intent. He took hold of my wrist, licked the wine off the tip of my finger and sucked it halfway into his mouth.

I couldn't believe I was doing this. Zane was like an opiate to my system and I wanted one more hit. Just a fling. Then I’d kick the habit for good.

I’d dated a couple men after college, the longest being a few months. I’d caught the last one in a compromising position with one of his neighbors and had foolishly given him a second chance. Never again. Flings were so much easier. You knew what you were getting—sex, nothing more, nothing less.
