One Thief...

Wealthy, titled, and very privileged, Lady Katherine Hardwicke successfully eluded some of the best thieves in the world in a quest to obtain the Fortunate Buddha. Her time is running out and her enemies are closing in, and one deliciously enigmatic man seems determined to get in her way. Will he save her or end her quest forever?

One Hunt...

Jarod Parker wears many faces and lies for a living, but when the same thief steals the Buddha out from beneath his agents not once but twice, this handler returns to the field. His target? The last woman anyone would suspect of being the thief. But is he really after the Buddha or has this brilliant woman stolen his heart?

One Choice...

Their sensuous game of cat and mouse turns deadly when a third player turns up the heat, but can these two liars come clean with each other or will they lose it all?

A good read that had lots of great banter between the characters. The main characters were interesting and multi-dimensional and had lots of chemistry. This was a fast-paced story that held my interest through the end, but as sometimes happens with shorter reads, I was hoping for a little bit more.

I really liked both Jarod and Katherine. They both have secrets and have spent their lives hiding behind their carefully constructed personas. When circumstances bring Jarod and Katherine together the chemistry between is sizzling. Their bantering back and forth was lots of fun and I loved watching them keep score of their one-upmanship.

The story was well-crafted. I have not read the previous two books in this series and think that maybe if I had it would have been easier to jump right into this one. Sufficient back-story is given when needed, but I think if I had read the previous two books it would have been easier to understand the significance of the artifact and some of the history of the characters.

I am a huge fan of this author’s paranormal series “The Wolves of Willow Bend” and was not disappointed at all in this read, which is my first non-paranormal book from her. I love Heather Long’s writing style, the engaging story lines, and fun dialogue, so all in all this was a good read.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
