Deadly Betrayal
by Misty Evans
Series: Southern California Violent Crimes Taskforce, #9
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: October 6, 2020

Her new boss is the guy from last night’s tryst…can she trust him with her secrets?

Down to her last five dollars and homeless to boot, former Army nurse and helo pilot, Josie Jackson, is determined to fix her life. Accepting a desk job with Bondsman Brothers Agency means swallowing her pride—and her embarrassment when she discovers her new boss is the guy from last night’s tryst.

Once a Marine, always a Marine, Caleb Cahill hides his deep rage with his sarcastic wit and is always ready for a fight. Discovering he’s slept with the new receptionist—the only woman to make him forget his internal demons—he’s prepared to go toe-to-toe with her to get her back in his bed.

When Josie becomes the target of a high-end art theft ring, Caleb will have to do more than punch his way out of the danger. Secrets will come to life. Betrayal is a breath away. Who will survive?

Another action-packed romantic suspense from Misty Evans! With a plot that is fast-paced but developed enough to keep you engaged, plus characters that are not perfect but somehow find the one that is perfect for them, Deadly Betrayal was a quick, enjoyable read that had everything I like in romantic suspense!

Josie and Caleb are both a bit broken, but find everything they need in one another – even though neither one is looking, or even thinks they want, to find someone! I loved Caleb’s rough exterior and how Josie seemed to settle the rage that he is known to carry. And Caleb was just what Josie needed – someone to support her and not make her feel less, take over when it’s needed, and be a true partner in her life.

This series has so many wonderful characters and it’s always great to catch up with them when they make appearances. Josie’s brother was great! We met him in the last book and I loved how protective he was of his “baby” sister, threating Caleb and trying to protect Josie at every turn. Cooper, Ronnie, and Thomas all had parts as well, and it was great to have them worked into the plot.

This book is part of a series but can easily be read as a stand-alone. Evans always delivers characters who come to life on the page and the perfect balance of romance and suspense to keep you engaged throughout. A definite must for anyone’s TBR list!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book I received from the author.
