Review - Blood Moon by Lisa Kessler

Blood Moon
by Lisa Kessler
Series: Moon, #3
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: December 15, 2014

One bite can change you.
And one kiss can change your destiny...

Nadya Dalca has been handed a death sentence. She's been bitten by the last living genetically enhanced werewolf―part of the Nero Organization's disastrous Moonlight project. With the poisonous blood now coursing through her system and pushing her to the limits, it is only a matter of time before Nadya's fate is sealed...

Gareth Takoda told himself he couldn't get involved. Caught up in a maelstrom of grief and bitterness, he has been isolating himself from his Pack. But when he is charged with watching over Nadya's first transformation―or bear witness should it go horribly wrong―Gareth is torn further by unwanted desire and the need to protect what is his.

One kiss changes everything. One shattering, all-consuming kiss. And with it, Nadya and Gareth face either salvation...or death.

I really enjoyed this book by Lisa Kessler and was once again captivated by her characters, the emotion, and the paranormal world she creates. The story itself had a bit of everything – romance, angst, mystery, suspense, action, some hot & steamy times, and even a wedding – but what sets all of Kessler’s books apart is her ability to create relationships between the characters she creates that allow you to feel like you are in the story with them, watching the events unfold.

Nadya was such a great, strong heroine. I loved the fact that even though it would have been so easy for her to give up and resign herself to the death sentence that she had been handed, she chooses to live and fight, and enjoy to the fullest every moment she may have left...
“I love you, Nadya.” She hugged me tight, her voice soft against my ear. “I can’t lose you. I won’t.”
“I’m not going anywhere.” I shook my head. “You raised me to be strong and fight.”
Gareth was my favorite kind of hero – the damaged bad-boy. He has faced so much loss in his life, and protects himself the only way he knows how…if he doesn't allow himself to care about anyone, he can protect himself from the inevitable loss that will happen. And with one kiss his whole world is turned upside down, and he must figure out how to protect himself from the fallout, knowing fate has surely set him up again.
Staring down at her, I wanted to pull her close and taste her lips. But kissing her wouldn't change her fate, or mine.
On top of all issues surrounding Gareth and Nadya’s relationship, we also had to deal with a government scientist with an agenda, a pack doctor who was hoping to have Nadya for himself, and Nadya’s sister’s wedding. Throw all these things together and you have not only a great romance, but a wonderful mystery/suspense that continues the story from the previous books in the series.

My only complaint with this book would be that I wanted more – the ending wrapped things up very quickly and I really wanted to know more about the whole Dream Walker thing. But overall, I really loved this book and can’t wait for the next story. This is definitely one to add to your TBR list!

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for an honest review.

  4. She's a favorite of mine - definitely gives me the feels!
And I know what you mean...so many books, so little time (how cliche, but how true!) We should arrange a readers convention where we all meet for a week and with exception to meals and an a couple hours of discussion each day, all we do is read...hmmm, need to think on this idea!
