Review - Wilde Times by Savannah Young

Wilde Times
by Savannah Young
Series: Olde Town Country Romance, #4
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: October 5, 2014

WILDE TIMES is the fourth and final novel in the spicy contemporary romance series about four sexy brothers, their small-town bar and their local country band.

In high school, Jake Wilde was the star football player, who led his team to win the state championship. Now ten years later he’s the manger of his family’s bar, Haymakers, but the residents of rural Old Town still talk about his glory days in high school.

Harley Davis was always the girl-next-door…literally. Her family was neighbors with the Wilde family and the Wilde boys treated her like the little sister they never had. But Harley spent her adolescence dreaming that she’d one day be Jake Wilde’s girl.

She never anticipated that she’d be one of the many girls Jake sleeps with. It breaks Harley’s heart a little bit more every time Jake hooks up with someone other than her, which happens on a regular basis.

How much longer will Harley believe that having even a small piece of Jake is better than having no Jake at all?

I know every person wants to believe that he or she is a special snowflake, but we’re really all just part of a gigantic human slush pile. When you love someone they’re supposed to elevate you from the slush for a while, and at least to that one person you’re special. - Harley Davis
Just like the previous book in this series, this was a quick, fun read that I devoured in one sitting. But unlike the last book where I smiled throughout and confirmed my belief in happy ever afters, this book really had me doubting that a HEA was in sight.

Although I found myself many times wanting to smack Jake and give Harley a good shake, I still really loved both of these characters. Even though it felt so wrong for Harley to settle for the small piece of Jake that she had, it was clear just how deep her feelings for him ran. And even though Jake spent most of the book doing things that seemed unredeemable in my eyes, he somehow worked his way under my skin and earned a bit of forgiveness. When circumstances lead these two down a path that neither of them may recover from, it was fun to watch things unfold and see these two finally be honest with each other. Harley was a character that I have loved since the last book, so it was great to get in to her head and see why she has made some of the decisions she has.

It was great getting an update on the rest of the Wilde brothers and their women. I love the diversity found in each of the Wilde brothers and how they interact with one another. All of the women are strong and keep their men in line, and also look out for each other, which adds another great dynamic to these stories.

Overall this was a great read with a lot of angst and many “boy do I want to smack him aside the head moments”. I love these small town, family based romances that can really touch your heart!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.
