Series: Women Behind the Badge, #1
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: July, 2014
Recruit officer Kiley Gibbons has walked in her twin sister’s shadow her entire life—born two minutes after, she’s five inches shorter with curls gone wild and the exact opposite of her outgoing, athletic sister. But that’s exactly why she’s the one woman who caught Walt Raynham’s eye, and threatens his future in the tactical unit.
Officer Raynham is everything Kiley needs to distract her from the daily grind at the police academy, too bad his drop dead gorgeous body is wearing the uniform of her boss. And when the academy is finally behind her, Kiley must find the strength to walk away from the man she shouldn’t touch.
But when her friend’s death leaves Kiley with two children to raise and a custody battle she just might lose, there’s only one man strong enough to step in and fill the role of her fiancĂ©. Now Kiley’s not sure she wants to resist the temptation Walt causes, and he’s not so sure a family would be such a bad thing. Together, they discover love and an engagement of convenience could be unstoppable force for happily ever-after…until a killer has another idea that may cost them everything they didn't want.
This was such a great read that it’s hard to believe that is Kym Robert’s first book! From the writing style, to the editing, to the dialogue, there is so much to love about this book. And what I loved most was watching the characters struggle and fight for every ounce of HEA they could get. Just when you thought you were going to get there, another curve ball was thrown into the story that made you have to take a step back again and wonder just how and when a happy ending might find its way into the lives of two people who fate seemed destined to keep apart.
There was lots of action and suspense, and just the right amount of romance and chemistry between Kiley and Walt to tie the entire story together and keep you rooting for the two of them to find their way to each other. The fact that life kept getting in their way made the story even more engaging and made every little bit of happiness they found have that much more of an impact. I loved the tension that was always there between the two, but I also loved how they were always looking out for each other, especially when Walt steps up and…well, you’ll have to read the book to find out, but let me tell you it was great!
I highly recommend this book to any fans of romantic suspense, action, mystery and romance – really to just about anybody that likes a story with a great balance of romance and action. Great job for a debut novel, I look forward to reading more from Kym Roberts in the future.
I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh that sounds fab! Love when a debut author hits it outta the park like that :)
ReplyDeleteThis one really worked for me and I was so impressed with the dialogue and editing - and the sexy cop didn't hurt either!
