Blog Tour, Giveaway & Guest Post - Heroes With Hearts of Steel Tour with Kym Roberts

Heroes with Hearts of Steal Blog Tour

Today I am thrilled to have Kym Roberts on the blog! I met Kym a while ago on Facebook and was so excited for her when she mentioned that she was going to be working on her books. So I quickly messaged her to let her know to sign me up to support her however I could. I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of Handled By Officer and fell in love with Walt and loved the story (you'll find a link to my review later in the post!).
Thank you, Kym for stopping by! And without further ado....some words from Kym on her heroes...

Hi Margaret!

WELCOME to my blog continuity with four heroes!  That’s right four men full of ego, brawn and looks that could kill — me:)  I invited my guys out to dinner, none of them knew why or who else would be joining us, but they agreed to meet me at my favorite hotel for dinner, the Hotel Del Coronado on Coronado Island off the coast of San Diego, CA.  They trusted me, completely.  Well they used to, after tonight I might be on at least one hit list.  I've already introduced Walt from Handled By Officer and Makaio & Pai from Dead On Arrival, on my earlier stops on my tour, but trust me, there’s plenty here to get an idea of what all of these men are like. So sit back and enjoy the ride, cause it’s about to get wild!

Pai heard my thoughts about the perfect woman for Walt, he knew what I was planning for the Kansas City officer who taught defense tactics at the police academy.  He saw Kiley in my mind’s eye, the perfect woman with curls gone wild for the man standing next to me. Walt didn't stand a chance and Pai wasn't happy with my meddling.

“Freedom to choose is the basis for all lasting relationships.” He argued.

My spine prickled. “I never said it wasn't.”

“Yet, still you meddle.”

“And what do you call what you’re doing?” I glanced at Walt whose feet began to shuffle.

Pai smiled, “Looking out for my fellow man who has a female about to do him wrong.”

Walt looked at both of us confusion and mistrust clouding his eyes.  He wasn't used to being in the dark and not understanding a situation. He had mad skills when it came to reading people, but Pai was different.

There was one thing Pai didn't get. Yes, Walt was happy, yet incomplete. If I didn't introduce him to Kiley, Walt would end up a lonely bachelor at the age of fifty who regretted his decision not to have a family.  Walt wasn't the bachelor type, before tragedy made him believe he was.

At over six and a half feet tall Pai towered over me, but what I found more intimidating than his height, was the fact that he could read my mind. At the moment, I was beginning to wonder why I’d given him that ability – I should have written Dead On Arrival with Pai’s extra sensory skills beginning to develop. Now I saw my mistake a little too late.

Pai’s cousin, Makaio, came to my rescue, standing up for me when he shouldn't. “She’s never done you wrong before.”

Pai’s blue eyes narrowed enough to put Walt on high alert. “From my perspective, I’d say both of you had a hand in doing me wrong.”

Now the real can of worms was open. I’d purposely hurt these two cousins. Once inseparable, they no longer spoke to one another … thanks to me. Makaio’s shoulders straightened, Walt took a step back, unsure who he should be protecting and what enemy he should be defending against. He looked to me for answers.

Pai would usually laugh this whole situation off. He didn't do violence, he was the big softy, the teddy bear made of rock hard muscle. And maybe if Makaio hadn't been there to remind him of his recent pain, Pai would have been warmer. But I seriously couldn't blame him.  If our roles were reversed, I wouldn't have accepted the dinner invite, or even spoken to him ever again.

Pai, was a better person than me.

But he wasn't quite finished dropping the bombs that were hidden in the dark recesses of my mind.

“And he’s not the only one she has plans for, cuz.” Pai’s gaze returned to me. Waiting.

Makaio also looked at me, his sexy brown eyes turning dark and stormy.

My last hero arrived, exactly the way I expected him to … in silence. “When you create a den of lions, someone’s bound to get hurt. But the question remains, will anyone survive?”

All three men flinched and turned to look at the newcomer who somehow crossed into our little garden area and stood within inches of our circle without one of us hearing him. His warning put the state of alert in the room on high. Tall and lean, his face looked unusually tight, probably because he’d received the worst dose of pain out of all of them. Yet here he stood, tall and proud, baring the physical pain so many of our service men and women had before him, and would after him.

He was an All-American hero, and I loved him for everything he’d sacrificed in the name of country. But he was about to hate what I had planned more than all the rest of them combined.

If someone hurts you deep to the core of your heart, do you forgive and forget? Walk away from the relationship, or stay put but never allow that person to forget what they've done?

I hope you enjoyed the introduction to my heroes and will enter my rafflecopter below for a chance to win multiple prizes.

Mahalo!
Kym

Three career paths resonated for Kym during her early childhood: a detective, an investigative reporter, and…a nun. Being a nun, however, dropped by the wayside when she became aware of boys—they were the spice of life she couldn't deny.

In high school her path was forged when she took her first job at a dry cleaners and met every cop in town, especially the lone female police officer in patrol. From that point on there was no stopping Kym’s pursuit of a career in law enforcement—even if she had to duct tape rolls of coins to her waist to meet the weight requirements to be hired.

Kym followed her dream and became a detective that fulfilled her desire to be an investigative reporter, with one extra perk—a badge. Promoted to sergeant Kym spent the majority of her career in SVU. She retired from the job reluctantly when her husband drug her kicking and screaming to another state, but writing continued to call her name, at least in her head.
