Review - Beneath this Ink by Meghan March

Beneath This Ink
by Meghan March
Series: Beneath, #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 12, 2015

I've always known she was too good for me, but that never stopped me from wanting her.

And then I finally had her for one night.

A night I don’t remember.

I figured I’d blown my shot.

But now she’s walked back into my life, and this time, I have the upper hand. I want my second chance.

Will she be able to see the man beneath this ink?

I just loved this book! The characters were awesome, the plot is multi-faceted, and it was easy to get caught up in the emotion of the book. I am a sucker for the damaged bad boy, and Con certainly fit that bill, but I also loved the damaged heroine…the imperfections that lay beneath the surface.

After meeting Con in Beneath This Mask, I couldn't wait to get his story, and Meghan March did not disappoint. On the surface, Con is nothing more than bad news – he owns a tattoo parlor, a strip club, a pawn shop…but things are never what they seem. Con has his reasons for the choices he has made since returning from his tour of duty, and as parts of his past are revealed it’s easy to understand what has driven Con to the choices he has made.

On the surface, Vanessa appears to be nothing more than the upper-class socialite that Con has her pegged for – living in her perfect world. All Vanessa wants is to secure her position as the CEO of her family’s foundation, something that hinges on her appropriating a piece of property that Con holds the title to. There’s one little problem – a night they spent together two years ago, a night that Vanessa doesn't regret, but can’t let happen again if she wants to realize her dream of running the foundation. But when Con uses the title as leverage to spend time with Vanessa, a chain reaction of events and secrets being brought to light has both Con and Vanessa questioning everything they believe.
“What do you want? I have to get back.” I hoped my tone sounded unaffected.

“Same thing I've wanted for two damn years: another taste of you.”

I sucked in a breath and fought the shivers of anticipation coursing through me. No. Absolutely not. Can’t happen.

“Why would you want another taste of the stuck up bitch you threw out of your gym?” I crossed my arms, ready to block any verbal blows that might be coming. Turns out, I didn't need to.

Con looked up to the ceiling and cleared his throat before speaking. “Life doesn't give us many second chances. If this is mine, then I’m not going to waste it.”
These two certainly took me on an emotional ride and I loved watching Con and Van see beneath the surface and learn who the person underneath was. The other characters in the book added such depth to the story line – there were so many interwoven plot lines and I loved how the various pieces revealed themselves and finally played out. I loved all the guys at the gym, and really loved to hate Lucas.

I can’t say enough about this book and how much I enjoyed it! I loved how the timeline fit in with the first book, and now I am now eagerly awaiting the next installment and can’t wait to find out whose story will be told!

I received a copy of this book from the author/tour host for an honest review.
