Series: The Shaughnessy Brothers, #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 4, 2015

Can't make time for love?
The Shaughnessy brothers have spent the years since their mother's untimely death taking care of each other and trying to make their father proud. Oldest son Aidan is hard-working, handsome, successful-and still single. Sure, he'd like to have his own family someday, but who has the time?
She'll show him how to find it
Zoe Dalton, a stunning designer Aidan meets on one of his construction jobs, has the beauty and heart to make Aidan realize how much he could be missing. But it's not easy to break down walls you've spent years building up. Now there's a major storm bearing down on the North Carolina coast, and it could be catalyst enough to force Aidan and Zoe into some major decisions of the heart.

There was so much to love in Made for Us – a small town set on the beach, a close-knit family, well-written characters…and there was even a wonderful little dog that helped tell this story! When put together with some fabulous writing you have a great read that sets the stage for what should be a wonderful series to come – just think, three more Shaughnessy brothers, a little sister, and maybe a HEA for Dad - lots of great books to come!
From the opening of the book you can tell how deeply impacted Aiden was from the loss of his mother and how it has shaped his life. With his father working hard to provide for the family, he’s taken on the role of a second father to his siblings to help fill the gap that the loss of his mother has created. He’s become a bit of a control freak, needing order to minimize what could become chaos in his life, which has also made him very averse to any type of change, something that has also followed him into his professional life. No one wants to be on the receiving end of one of Aiden’s tirades when things on the construction site are not done to his level of quality – something he demands no matter the cost…professional or personal. But underneath it all is a man who cares deeply about the people he loves and wants to do the best he can to protect them and keep them safe – even if that does make him an overbearing ass at times.
Zoe Dalton has also been impacted deeply by the loss of her mother. Although it is a recent loss, it is one that has prompted her to seek out a new life on the east coast. When Zoe gets assigned the Shaughnessy account, Aiden’s reputation precedes him, so she knows she’s going to be faced with a very big challenge. I loved how Zoe wasn’t afraid to stand up to Aiden. She’s talented, smart, and able to take care of herself, and even though I was a little bit irked at her recklessness when the storm was rolling in, I did understand her need to try and keep her home safe.
Aiden and Zoe were an interesting couple. Because Aiden was a master of hiding his feelings, it was tough for Zoe to get a good read on him at times. And then his inability to see that his fear of change – which Zoe definitely was for him – could make him lose not only Zoe, but his relationship with his family as well, was often times frustrating.
I totally fell in love with the entire Shaughnessy clan and loved the way the loved and supported each other. Even though at times they could drive each other crazy, there was nothing but love between them all. I can’t wait to see how these family dynamics continue to play out in the rest of the books in the series!
With great characters, emotional depth, and just a touch of angst and drama, this small town romance is definitely worth checking out!
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
