Review - Tempting Her Best Friend by Gina Maxwell

Tempting Her Best Friend
by Gina Maxwell
Series: What Happens In Vegas, #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 11, 2014

A satisfying contemporary romance from Entangled’s Lovestruck imprint…

Alyssa Miller is tired of waiting for her next-door neighbor to see her as more than just his best friend. Ready to let off some steam, she heads to Las Vegas for a romance book convention where, if she's lucky, she’ll get down and dirty with one of the sexy cover models.

Dillon Alexander doesn’t do commitment—especially not where his best friend is concerned. She deserves a man who can give her the world, not damaged goods. But when he realizes Alyssa intends to have a one-night stand on her vacation, he hauls ass after her to make sure he’s the one to scratch her itch.

Neither of them expects their explosive chemistry to burn hotter than the lights on the strip, but with a little help from Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, a flamboyant matchmaker, and TSA, what happens in Vegas might not stay in Vegas…

What a fun, quick read this was and it had me hooked from the first page. I just loved both Alyssa and Dillon, who have been best friends since they were kids. They both have some issues from their past that have them keeping their feelings for each other under wraps, but when Dillon finds out that Alyssa is going to Vegas and plans on hooking up with some cover model at the romance novel convention she is attending, well that is just not going to do…especially when Dillon is more than willing to help her out if a hook up is what she wants!

I’m not sure what I loved more about this book – the snarky dialogue, the dirty talk, or the bizarre and colorful cast of characters that get woven into the story! How can you not love a heroine who can play just as dirty as the hero?
“Oh yeah?” A wicked glint lit up her eyes. “Maybe I’ll have to bring a box of unicorn pops home with me.”

Images assaulted him of her torturing him in public – like at his family’s annual Fourth of July barbecue or her occasional visits to his jobsite – places where he couldn't haul off and tackle-fuck her just because his dick was harder than a steel beam.
And how can you not get caught up in a book with lines like…
So, Elvis, Marliyn Monroe, a bride, and a gay guy walk into the Vegas airport.
and…
Holding the door open, he said, “Honey, as far as you’re concerned, this is Oz and I’m the motherfucking Wizard.”
I just love Gina Maxwell and her writing style. It was so easy to get caught up in the story and I would often find myself laughing out loud at the banter between the characters and the situations they found themselves in. And of course who doesn't love a happy ever after, especially when there is some work involved to get there and the characters end up being exactly what the other needs to help them heal and learn to give their hearts completely.

A great read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

I was given a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.
