Watching sex tapes at the office is just part of PR professional Vivian Blake's job, especially when she has to clean up a celebrity's image. Except that her newest client isn't quite that easy. Racecar driver Jarod Cage is beyond hot, and his onscreen “performance” is already compromising Viv's cool professionalism.
While Jarod hasn’t exactly been discreet about his personal life, he never thought his reputation could cost him both his sponsor and his racing career. Now he has to put his future in the hands of a tiny, pixie-like publicist. Which is becoming a problem, because the heat between them is about to redline. But when you go this hard and fast, putting on the brakes is the most dangerous thing you can do...
This book definitely takes you on a hot and sexy ride! Vivian and Jarod were explosive from their first encounter, and what starts as quid pro quo quickly turns into an attraction that neither one can - nor wants to - deny, and once they realize that scratching the itch just makes it impossible for them to get each other out of their systems, the real fun begins!
Jarod was all sorts of sex-on-a-stick. Unfortunately, being the bad boy of racing can find you in all sorts of trouble when your sport is one that screams family values and your sponsors can make or break your career. Of course there is so much more to Jarod than he lets on, and I loved getting to see past his public bad boy persona to see the person he truly was. He’s been carrying around a secret and has paid the price for it, which explains a lot of the issues and rumors about him. Of course that doesn’t mean he can’t dirty talk with the best of them and provide some hot and steamy times for Vivian!
Vivian was a tough one for me. I didn’t really like her at first, thought her initial run in with Jarod was a bit much (the whole quid pro quo thing was a bit of a stretch for me, but boy was the scene H-O-T!). She did grow on me as the book went on, and by the end I was totally on board with her and Jarod.Everyone knew about Jarod Cage. He was a bad boy. A ladies’ man. Actually, a bit of a manwhore. He was also gorgeous, and skilled, and so damn dirty.
Jarod and Vivian together were totally combustible. You could feel the tension between the two from their first meeting, and they never lost that heat – even when things got difficult. From a relationship perspective, these two didn’t work for me initially, but as the story progressed and you started to see the real Jarod and Vivian it became clear just how right these two were for each other.
I loved the racing backdrop to the story and getting to see what happens behind the scenes. There were a lot of great secondary characters that helped add depth to the story, especially the mystery surrounding Vivian’s boss – which I hope leads to a few more stories!
Overall this was fun read that I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick read with some dirty talk and sizzle!
I received a copy of the book from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.
Mmm love some good tension. That's a great cover too! Yay for it being a sexy read :D
