Review - Trouble on Tap by Avery Flynn

Trouble on Tap
by Avery Flynn
Series: Sweet Salvation Brewery, #3
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 14, 2015

What fun is life without a little bit of trouble?

Retired supermodel and forever wild child Olivia Sweet is nothing but trouble. The youngest Sweet triplet is back in her hometown, but instead of a triumphant return it’s a parade of humiliations. She’s broke, homeless and dealing with the fallout from her scumbag ex-boyfriend publishing naked pictures of her to a revenge porn website.

Staid and stalwart veteran Mateo Garcia has seen more trouble than a man ever should in his lifetime. He’s gone from pretty boy Marine to a small town police chief with a chip on his shoulder and scars covering the left side of his face. Now his former lover, Olivia, is back in town and living next door.

When the two are forced to work together to fix up the crumbling veterans’ center, the sparks fly between the beauty and the man who sees himself as a beast. Not everyone is happy that Olivia is back home though and Mateo has to choose between the town who wants her gone and an uncertain future with a woman who he thinks could never love him…

A sweet and steamy second chance love story and a small town romance, with a best friend’s big brother as well…talk about a few of my favorite things – makes me want to break out into song! Trouble on Tap had a bit of everything I love in a contemporary romance and was the perfect way to round out the story of the Sweet triplets and the Sweet Salvation Brewery.

When Olivia Sweet returns to Salvation - let’s just say that she brings a whole lot of history with her! As the wild child of the triplets, she’s ruffled enough feathers in the town with her antics, and that doesn’t even begin to describe the chaos that ensued when she had a reality tv show follow her home for the holidays one year. Filled with good intentions, Olivia seems to always have things go oh, so wrong…the latest fiasco involving her ex sharing a very private video she sent to him on a revenge porn site. What I loved about Olivia though, was despite all the downs, she was determined to succeed and never gave up, always moving forward.

Mateo has come back to Salvation after being injured in the war, becoming a very grouchy, cold hearted man who has used his physical scars as a way to keep people away. As the town’s sheriff the people depend on him, but boy he has one big chip on his shoulder! He broke Olivia’s heart before he was injured, and now that she’s back in town he still wants her, but he just can’t come to terms how she could ever want him.

Together Olivia and Mateo were explosive. Right from the opening these two set the pages on fire. When Olivia comes back to town and has to work with Mateo on a project to save the Veteran’s Center that spark is still there between them, they just need to find their way back to one another. I loved how they truly wanted to help each other, even if they were driving each other crazy. And I really loved Mateo’s protective streak when it came to Olivia!

The cast of characters in Salvation added such color to the story. From Olivia’s sisters and their men, to the locals in town, and especially Ruby, the owner of the diner who seems to have her finger on the pulse of everything that goes on, these small town people all had big personalities that added to the story.

This was a fast paced read that had a bit of sweet, a bit of angst and drama, and a whole lot of sass and sexy going on. The ending was a bit quick, but I did love the how things were tied up. Another great read from Avery Flynn!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
