Setting the Mood with My Playlist
With Undying Hunger, I ended up with eight songs on my playlist. Markus and Alexandria’s story gave me a range of emotions from anger, angst, to extreme passion. So when I needed to dive deep into their minds and draw on their feelings, I’d pop in my ear buds and pick from my song list.
For example, when I wanted to feel Alex’s growing kick-butt confidence I’d reach for Dark Horse, by Katy Perry.
In the beginning, Markus is the perfect antihero. A fallen Enclave warrior who’s lost everything he’s ever cared about and doesn’t believe he has a chance of ever reclaiming his life. Closer, by Kings of Leon has an awesome vibe that really suited this part of the story’s mood.
Later, the tone shifts with Markus’ character, and What I Want, by Daughtry rocked this vibe!
Toward the end of the story—this is a romance of course—and Adore You, by Miley Cyrus says it all beautifully!
