Review - Fool Me Once by Katee Robert

Fool Me Once
by Katee Robert
Series: Foolproof Love, #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 1, 2016

They say opposites attract, but this is just ridiculous.

Aubry Kaiser doesn’t like people—actually, that’s not right. She loathes people. With her crippling anxiety, there’s no way she can demo her favorite video game at a convention with five thousand other people. Maybe if she brings someone to act as a shield…

But the only person available is the sexy cowboy she can’t stand.

Quinn Baldwyn is in a mess of his own. He’s been dodging his wealthy family’s matchmaking attempts—and life advice—for years, but with his sister’s wedding on the horizon, he needs of a shield of his own.

He and Aubry can barely hold down a civil conversation, but in bed…fireworks. And the closer they get to Quinn’s sister’s wedding, the more he realizes that he might actually like Aubry.

Now it’s up to him to convince her she might actually like him, too.

This book was all sorts of fun! This enemies to lovers story had great characters, great banter, and a sizzling chemistry between the H/h – everything I’ve come to expect from a Katee Robert story!

We met both Aubry and Quinn in the first book in this series and it was obvious that beneath all the “I don’t like you” was a sizzling chemistry that was waiting for the right circumstances to catch fire. When these two agree to help each other out and find that maybe they have a bit more in common than they thought and they might actually…like…each other, what started off as just great sex turns into the possibility of something more.

I just loved these two together. Their bantering back and forth was so much fun to watch. Quinn always new just how to push all of Aubry’s buttons, and I loved watching Aubry turn things right around on Quinn.
“How am I going to escape the zombies if I don’t have sweet cardio skills? This is something I’m going to have to work on. I can’t rely on a trusty steed to be in my vicinity every hour of every day.”

He wasn’t sure if he should be insulted she’d just called him a trusty steed, but he couldn’t resist such a perfect opening. “I have something in particular that you should be riding.”

“Oh, for fuck’s sake. I’m sitting here worrying about the inevitable zombie apocalypse and you’re thinking with your dick.”
But the best parts were seeing underneath all of the banter and watching these two begin to care for one another. Quinn handling Aubry’s anxiety attacks, Aubry giving Quinn support when he had to face his overbearing family – I loved watching Quinn and Aubry as they began to recognize that they really did care about one another. And it goes without saying that they certainly brought the heat and a lot of naughtiness to the pages…

We got a glimpse of what is going ton with Jules and Adam (Foolproof Love, Book 1) and also got to see a little bit of Daniel – can’t wait to see what is in store for him! And yes, Ninja Kitteh and some of the other cats from Cups and Kittens made an appearance as well.

Although the heroine is a bit difficult and causes a bit of angst in the book, knowing her back story and learning about her anxiety disorder make this heroine easy to forgive when she gets a bit snarky and difficult. The author does a wonderful job creating two characters who are so much more than what they appear on the surface and revealing just enough of what’s beneath at just the right times, which kept me caught up in the characters and the story.

Another great read by Katee Robert that is sure to appeal to any romance lover who enjoys a road to a happy ever after filled with snarky banter, sexy times, and two great characters who are so much more than they seem.

I received a copy of this book NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
