Review - Jonquils for Jax by Katy Regnery

Jonquils for Jax
by Katy Regnery
Series: The Rousseaus, #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 5, 2016

Did you fall in love with The English Brothers? Were you hot for the Winslows? Katy Regnery's New York Times bestselling Blueberry Lane series continues with The Rousseau siblings in Summer 2016!

Jacqueline "Jax" Rousseau is vivacious, rich, smart and beautiful…but that doesn't mean she's lucky in love: she's dated doctors, lawyers, actors and politicians who've all managed to end up disappointing her. In fact, she's on a self-imposed hiatus from love when she has an unpleasant run-in with her neighbor's gorgeous new landscaper, Gardener Lenox. Jax is not accustomed to gruff, ill-mannered men that can't be charmed, but when he saves her skin, she realizes that something about Gard intrigues her...and if she can find her way through the armor that surrounds his heart, she might finally find a love that won't let her down.

A wonderful sweet romance that gave me a case of the feels and left me believing in fate and true love.

Jax and Gardener were so much fun together. They have both taken a pause from their lives to figure out what direction to head in next, and when fate brings these two together it doesn’t take long to see that being together is part of their future. I loved their bantering and playfulness, and it was easy to see that these two connected from their first interaction. Even though there are a few things these two need to deal with, once they have committed to being together…even if it may only be temporary…these two were all in.

And did I mention the banter...these two were so much fun!
She shook her head and said under her breath, “A gardener named Gardener.”
“A fact we’ve established,” he said, giving her a bored look, though he didn’t feel bored at all. “Repeatedly.”
     “How did that...happen?
     “The name or the job?”
     “Both.”
“Don’t you have somewhere you need to be, Duchess?”
“And miss your scintillating explanation of this fascinating sobriquet-slash-profession collision? No way.”
“My full name is Gardener Pierre Thibodeaux.”
     “Posh,” she said.
He rolled his eyes at her, which only made her smile widen.
She cocked her head to the side. “Do you have a brother named Trowel? Or Rake?”
He shook his head. “Just two sisters.”
     “Named?”
His mother would have laughed and told him he was about to “walk into the poo.” He sighed. “Lily and Iris.”
“Ha!” she said, her eyes bright with delight. “Flowers! You’re messing with me!”
He shook his head, forfeiting a smile to her because she was just that adorable and it was almost impossible not to enjoy her. “Nope. My father was a landscaper. I guess he thought…”
     “He’d mix business and pleasure?”
     “Something like that.”
“Well, it’s good to meet you, Gardener Thibodeaux.”
The supporting characters added additional depth to the story. From Jax’s mother (who is just awful!) to Gardener’s friends from the police force, everyone added to Jax and Gardener’s story. Jax’s sister and brother also played a nice part, and I’m looking forward to seeing where their stories lead. Characters from other books in the Blueberry Lance series make an appearance, and I’m looking forward to going back and reading those books to learn more.

Katy Regnery has delivered a wonderfully written romance. I loved her writing style, which from a reader’s perspective was effortless in its delivery and created a world that was easy to get lost in. The characters were well developed, telling their story with emotion as well as with great dialogue, especially the lines in French. I enjoyed my visit to Blueberry Lane, and as I mentioned, I look forward to reading more books in this world to learn more about all the characters in this series.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get lost in a wonderful happy ever after!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
