Texas Twist
by Cynthia D'Alba
Series: Texas Montgomery Mavericks, #4
Genre: Western Romance
Release Date: September 2, 2014
Real bad boys can grow up to be real good men.
Hit hard by the death of her parents, Paige Ryan needs to figure out what to do with her life. She moves to Whispering Springs, Texas, to be near her step-brother. But just as she starts to get her life on track, the last man she ever wanted to see again sends it right back off the rails.
Cash Montgomery was on the cusp of having it all. Three bull riding titles, fame, fortune and respect from his family. Until a bad bull leaves him injured, angry and searching for comfort at the bottom of a bottle. With nowhere to go, he moves into his sister-in-law’s old ranch house in Whispering Springs—which he’s surprised to find already occupied.
As Cash rebuilds the dilapidated home and Paige starts out on her medical career, their old friendship begins to reemerge and sparks are ignited. Paige knows that Cash is nothing but a heartache waiting to happen. But maybe this bad boy has grown up to be a real good man?
Warning: Watch out for falling lumber, falling in holes, and falling for the wrong guy…again. You can leave your hard hat on.
I absolutely loved this book! With a damaged cowboy, a strong heroine, and some fabulous family dynamics, you have all the ingredients for a five-star read!
I just loved Cash and Paige. After sustaining a career ending injury, Cash has spent his time drowning his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. Paige has always been in love with Cash, but after he treats her like another buckle bunny after spending the night with her on her 18th birthday, Paige has carried around a bit of unrequited anger to go along with the unrequited love she is still harboring. When fate brings these two back together again, sparks fly and things heat up – but the mistakes of the past and fear of the future, as well as some meddling family, threaten to keep these two apart.
I just love the emotional ride that Ms. D’Alba takes us on – it was so easy to get caught up in the character’s lives and live through the emotions with them. And even though both Cash and Paige had me frustrated at times, I couldn't help but root for them as they fought themselves, each other, and even mother nature to find their happy ever after.
I have not read the previous books in this series, but feel this book can be read as a standalone. I will definitely be going back and meet the other Montgomery family members from the first three books – I just love the family dynamics and look forward to finding out the beginning of the story for some of the characters we meet in Texas Twist.
I can’t wait to catch up the books I haven’t read and then read the next installment in this series!
I was given a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
